The 84th Annual Gathering of The Thoreau Society will be held in Concord, Massachusetts from July 9-13 2025. Taking place amidst celebrations of the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, this year’s theme is “Thoreau’s Revolutions.”
The Thoreau Society has been celebrating its Annual Gathering since its founding in 1941. Thoreau Society members and enthusiasts from around the world gather in Concord each year around the time of Thoreau’s birthday on July 12th.
Presentations, discussions, performances, and guided nature walks will explore revolutions in the lives & writings of Thoreau as well as several Concord contemporaries. A July 13th panel on “Emersonian Revolutions Today” is sponsored by the Ralph Waldo Emerson Society.
Registration is required for both in-person and virtual attendance. Virtual attendance—via Zoom—includes only panels and roundtables at Trinity Episcopal Church.
